Why should I buy a boat from American Sail instead of from one of your competitors?
1. All of our boats are constructed of hand-laid fiberglass. (See details of our construction process under the "about us" tab.) This is much more durable than the common technique in the boat industry of using blown fiberglass (chopper guns). By using the hand-laid construction process we are able to obtain maximum strength and durability while keeping the boat light in weight which is extremely important in a sailboat. Hand-laid fiberglass construction is also not affected by UV rays from the sun which can make plastic products brittle over time.
2. Customer Service – We have been building boats for over 40 years and believe nothing is more important than quality and customer service. We enjoy one of the best reputations in the industry and quality + customer service is how we obtained it. Want to talk to the owners? They are happy to take your call.
3. Made in America – Boats are proudly made in Charleston, SC. Mast and rigging components are proudly made in Bristol, RI. Sails are proudly made in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Sailing hardware proudly made in Pewaukee, WI.
Where can I buy parts for my sailboat?
We sell parts for your American Sail boat and we can usually assist in getting parts for discontinued boats made by other manufacturers. If you know what you need, just call us at 1-800-844-2399 to place your order. We need your name, delivery address, phone number, and either Visa or Mastercard number for payment. We ship out by US Postal and FedEx. If you are not sure which part you need, a brief description over the phone usually is all we need. If you would like a complete parts list for your boat, just call us or email us and we will email, fax, or mail it to you. When you place an order, we always send you a current parts list for your reference
I just inherited my parent's boat but I do not sail. I want to sell it. Do you trade in used boats and can you tell me what my boat is worth?
We do not deal in used boats. We only manufacture new boats. The best way to find out what your boat is worth is to read your local boat trader magazine or look on sites such as nada.com for values.
Learning to Sail -
Our boats are all very easy to sail and perfect for beginners or experienced sailors. Sailing lessons are definitely NOT a requirement. However we do encourage you to find a local sailing school or community sailing organization so that you can learn from a certified instructor and get the most out of your sailing experience and more importantly learn boating safety. If you are looking for your children, we also highly recommend the sailing camp experience. You can look online at .www.acacamps.org, .www.kidscamps.com, or .www.grownupcamps.com for sailing camps.
